Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-13
This policy explains what personal data FreeSnap ("we") processes for FreeSnap (freesnap.app), why, and your rights. We are the controller of this data. Contact: see the website footer, Egypt.
1. Data about our users
- Account: your email address, and your name if you give it.
- Settings and activity: the job filters you create, the alerts and emails we send you, sign-in times.
- Technical data: IP address, browser user agent and request logs, used for security, rate limiting and troubleshooting.
- Billing: Paddle, our Merchant of Record, collects your payment details, billing address and tax information. We never receive or store your card number. Paddle shares with us your email, country, customer and subscription identifiers, plan, and payment and subscription status.
2. Data about freelancers and clients on the marketplaces
To produce market statistics and competitor analysis, we collect information that is published publicly on freelance marketplaces: public project listings, public display names and usernames, public profile statistics (such as ratings and completed projects), public reviews and public bid lists. We do not collect private messages, contact details, or anything behind a login. We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing market transparency to freelancers, and we show freelancers' names on public pages only as "First name + initial". If you are a freelancer and want your information excluded from our analyses and pages, write to us with your profile link; we will act within 30 days.
3. Why we use data (and legal basis)
- To provide the service: sign-in links, matching projects to your filters, sending alerts (performance of our contract with you).
- To bill subscriptions through Paddle and keep financial records (contract; legal obligation).
- To secure the service and prevent abuse (legitimate interest).
- To send service messages such as changes to terms or prices. We do not send marketing emails without your consent, and every alert email has an unsubscribe link.
4. Cookies
We use one essential session cookie to keep you signed in, and a short-lived cookie that returns you to the page you came from after sign-in. We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Paddle's checkout sets its own cookies when you open it; see Paddle's privacy policy.
5. Who we share data with
- Paddle.com (payments, tax, invoices; Merchant of Record): Paddle privacy policy.
- Zoho (ZeptoMail): delivers our emails.
- Contabo: hosts our servers.
- Google Fonts: serves the web font, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google.
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose data if required by law. These providers may process data outside your country; we rely on their contractual and legal safeguards.
6. How long we keep data
Account data and filters: while your account is active, and deleted within 30 days of a deletion request. Sent alerts and emails: up to 12 months. Server logs: rotated automatically and normally kept for no more than a few weeks. Billing records: as long as tax law requires (held by Paddle and us). Public marketplace data: as long as it is needed for statistics, unless you ask us to exclude it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020, Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law, or the EU/UK GDPR), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent. Write to us; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
8. Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, sign-in uses one-time links instead of passwords, and access to servers is restricted.
9. Children
The service is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We will post any update here with a new date and email account holders about material changes. If the English and Arabic versions differ, the English version governs.
